Lewis Buckley Conducts the First Coast Wind Symphony

Lewis Buckley, Conductor Laureate of the U. S. Coast Guard Band, was the guest conductor in a program of his own music performed by the First Coast Wind Symphony. The concert was held at Jacksonville University on October 15, 2022 and was well received by an enthusiastic audience.
Buckley's setting of poems by Carl Sandburg for soprano and wind ensemble, titled "Sandburg Reflections," was beautifully sung by guest artist Kimberly Beasley.
A very fine trumpet player, Buckley performed his own works for solo trumpet and winds: "The Yellow Rose of Texas Variations" and "Come Back to Sorrento."

This project was supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and administered by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.
